The biggest field of Super Sedans seen in South Australia this season will converge on the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway this weekend as part of the 2018 Easter Nationals. In all a field of 16 drivers, including a number of the best sedan drivers in Australia, will contest the two-night event that will culminate in a 35-lap final on Sunday night.
After winning the A-Main last weekend Ryan Alexander will be tough to beat but unlike last start four times South Australian Champion Dave Gartner will be present along with local hero Paul Blenkiron. Kym Jury, who was victorious in a big race recently and second last week, Trevor Ware, Whyalla’s Michael Brown and Kym Hammerstein look to the most likely local contenders to upstage either Alexander or Gartner.
The interstate visitors include three-time Victorian Champion Peter Nicola, current Victoria #3 Brad Wicks and New South Wales racer Andrew White.
Night 1 will see each driver contest two rounds of heats before two 15 lap features will complete their Saturday night racing program. The twin features will see Main Event 1 consist of the odd numbered qualifiers (1, 3, 5, 7 etc) while the even qualifiers will make up Main Event 2.
Sunday night will see a further round of heats before the line-up will be decided with a pole-shuffle for the entire field. The Championship final will be over 35 gruelling laps, a distance that is sure to test both the driver and their machinery.
